Maryland Wheelers Sportive Challenge - Round one

Tour of Carlingford Sunday 11th April - 80K

Eight intrepid members signed up to take part in this event which was held in bright sunshine and temperatures warm enough for the first outing in shorts and short sleeves of the year.

Gerry, Alan, Micky, Mark, Arthur, Gavin, Roy, Julie, Marty and Jimmy joined a large bunch - more than 200 - to set out from Silverbridge GAA club for the 80K loop to Dundalk and Carlingford where there was time for a 'long stop' waiting on Alan who had actually slipped the group to indulge in a race with Newry Wheelers!

Onwards through Newry to finish the run with an 18 mile sting in the tail with continuous climbing through Bessbrook , skirting Slieve Gullion and onwards towards Crossmaglen before arriving back at Silverbridge.

Soup and sandwiches left everyone satisfied and looking forward to the next round.
