'Care for the hospice went beyond my wife Liz's passing'
SHORTLY after Liz's death, John and his four children decided to run the Belfast Marathon to raise funds for the Marie Curie Hospice. "The idea was to do the marathon as a thank you to try and raise some sponsorship" John said. "It was a wonderfully bonding and rewarding thing for us to do".
"If Marie Curie asked me to do anything I would do it without hesitation". The family managed to raise a staggering £25,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Marie Curie Cancer care is the official local charity for Deep RiverRock's Belfast Marathon 2010. Run with Marie Curie Cancer care and you'll help us provide more care to terminally ill cancer patients. If you don't want to run the full marathon there are plenty of options such as the Marathon walk- 9 miles or 26 miles, Fun Run, and Relay team.
