Maryland's Trip to Fermanagh
Fine weather and light winds was the forecast and thats what we had for the 3 days of our club trip to Irvinestown this year, 14 had signed up for the weekend with organiser gerry lundy and all set off in good voice from Lisburn on the friday morning.
The 100 mile spin to Mahons hotel took us north via antrim, then west to cookstown and omagh with Hodgey spending the day demonstrating his re-discovered fitness going for solo missions at any sign of a 30, the fact that he thought he may pay the price for these efforts later on didn't seem to deter him.
Saturday morning we were met by wall to wall sunshine which unfortunately, 5 miles down the road turned into a fog blanket for an hour or two on our tour around Lough Erne to Beleek for lunch and a comfort stop at Wetherspoons in Enniskillen. Here we were treated to a unique way of changing a tube by Ian our club neurologist, thankfully we we all sitting down and had a good view of the operation. Hodgeys prediction from the previous day came true. The most impressive part to these events is how well the team works together both on the road and on the night stages -strict adherence to the club motto helps a lot in this respect!
The typical club trip Sunday morning silence wrapped itself around us for the journey home via Fintona, Clogher, Aughnacloy and up that lovely wee hill to Benburb, scene of that memorable tea stop of years gone by, Davy and Alan's iced diamonds and Phils see through shorts.
Top Tips,
Don't bring your old dvd's and pretend to drop them by the roadside, someone will see you.
Don't try and keep down a gravy chip after 20 pints don't have business ideas on one of these w'ends it always turns childish and ridiculous
And so by 3 o'clock another end of season club trip had come to an end and a good time was had by all. Phil.
